In this auction we are pleased to offer this RARE (?) - LIKE NEW - WW2 German K98 Mauser Rifle bayonet, Virtually without a flaw ( except for the VERY tiny "dings" in scabbard as seen in pix). 99.99999% finish to entire piece - AND NO MARKINGS WHATSOEVER - ANYW ON THE KNIFE! !- T isn't a proof mark, serial number or mark of any kind whatever. Every part of machining is crisp & sharp - Blued blade is 100% , still showing fine machining marks (and is covered with grease which we have left on). The scabbard, virtually same condition, holds the only identification to this piece. It is marked "DURKOPP - 38" and serial number "6331". The Durkopp Werke Co. (in Bielefeld Germany) was in production from 1934 to 1941. - The only thing that I noticed different from the standard German SG. 84/98III Kar 98 Rifle bayonet is that the top edge of the blade, instead of being flat on other pieces observed, is slightly rounded -?????? - Was this an idiosyncrasy of the early Durkopp pieces?? In any event if condition - Condition - CONDITION means anything to you - Grab this one! We have just acquired a very nice collection of early bayonets. These will be listed singly and in groups - PLEASE if military bayonets are your "thing" take the time to look at them all (and tell a friend!!). Some rare ones and FINE condition pieces, ALSO - since we are novices read more
