WWII GERMAN CAVALRY BRIDLE
Up for auction, I have an old WWII German cavalry bridle. It is a doouble bridle with 2 bits and a very interesting buckle w they split off from the crown. This piece is marked and dated in several places. The main bit is marked on one side with 2 g and the maker's mark "HUCK" inside of what looks like an anvil. On the other side it has 1943 and the word "REICHSHEER". The snaffle bit has "L&E" on it. The crown piece has a slightly off center mark that says "HKO" "MUNCHE" and the number 17. This may be an incomplete mark. The check reins have a maker's mark that I can't quite make out - it is a bird (looks like a phoenix?) and has a word or numbers under that. Also on the check reins is the initials "CFZ" and the date 1943. Unfortunately, thetre are some condition issues in this piece. The leather is dry and has some minor surface cracking. An animal has chewed on the leather in some places (mostly on the reins - the end of one is completely gone). T is some very minor surface rust on the bits, but they cleaned up very nicely in order for me to read the markings. This appears to be a complete bridle and it looks like an authentic piece of WWII militaria. I am not an expert on German militaria, but I am very experienced in the field of leatherwork and I do not believe that this is any kind of reproduction. Please check out the pictures and ask any questions prior to bidding. Any additional information concerning this piece would be welcome...
