Up for auction is a lot of 2 World War II German Military Wristwatches . The maker is PARA (Paul Raff, Pforzheim, Germany) and the model is 782 S . Both watches are identical, with the only difference being that the one with the hands' movement is named "Helios" and the other one's movement is named "PARA". Dials are signed "PARA" and "Bruchsicher" (shock-proof). The snap-back cases are marked "PARA, 782 S" Bruchsicher, Antimagnetisch. The backs once had "DH" marks under the bottom of the circle containing the words. Since the backs are somewhat pitted, the numbers are no longer visible. Anyone who knows PARA watches knows that the numbers are stamped faintly to begin with. Cases are in Very Good condition with some wear and brassing, but plenty of original finish intact. Bezels and backs fit tightly. One crown is worn, the other is in excellent condition. The movements are P300's and jeweled, and are identical despite having different maker marks. Both movements are complete, and wind/set/run- but they both need cleaning and lubrication. They will run (accurately) but will stop if turned over. The cases are three-piece: bezel/acrylic crystal; body; and snap-back. PARA's have the distinction of being one of the few snap-back case watches issued by the German Military during WWII. The one with the hands has a new crystal installed, read more
