WWII German Wehrmacht Solingen-Marked Close Combat/Boot Knife & Scabbard Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Background: Offered for auction is a standard German WWII close-combat/fighting/boot knife with scabbard. What makes this knife unusual is that it is stamped "Solingen" on the ricasso with the " passant " lion (or leopard) with one paw raised. I was unable to locate this trademark, but maybe someone else might be able to provide more information. Description : Fair condition. First of all, this knife is a veteran of WWII and guaranteed to be of pre-1945 manufacture and use. As pictures show, this knife has seen some hard use with significant sharpening to the blade. The wood grips are tight and in good shape, but darkened from use and age. As is common with this type of combat knife, it does not have much of a cross-guard. As stated, it has been sharpened, likely frequently field-sharpened and the blade does bear signs of darkening. As stated above, the ricasso bears the "Solingen" name and lion (or leopard) " passant. " WWII close combat knives bearing a maker's mark are very unusual and rare, expecially for this design. While not in the best of conditions, a fighting knife worthly of a home with plenty of war-dated character. The scabbard that came with it is missing the clip on the back, has paint loss and scratches and several dings to the bottom of the scabbard. Policy : My items are vintage and show some wear from age and use. If you are looking for "mint" or "old new stock," this isn't it. This knife is of pre-1945 manufacture. As a bidder, you are ultimately responsible for viewing photos and asking questions that you may have. I try to describe each item to the best of my ability, but I cannot always detail or grade each and every flaw the same way that you may view it. However, all items are described with honest intent! I hate surprises and imagine most honest eBayers do as well and I sincerely want our transaction to be mutually satisfactory.
