WWII German Wehrmacht Solingen-Marked Close Combat/Boot Knife & Scabbard Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Background: Offered for auction is a standard German WWII close-combat/fighting/boot knife with scabbard. What makes this knife unusual is that it is stamped "Solingen" on the ricasso with the " passant " lion (or leopard) with one paw raised. I was unable to locate this trademark, but maybe someone else might be able to provide more information. Description : Fair condition. First of all, this knife is a veteran of WWII and guaranteed to be of pre-1945 manufacture and use. As pictures show, this knife has seen some hard use with significant sharpening to the blade. The wood grips are tight and in good shape, but darkened from use and age. As is common with this type of combat knife, it does not have much of a cross-guard. As stated, it has been sharpened, likely frequently field-sharpened and the blade does bear signs of darkening. As stated above, the ricasso bears the "Solingen" name and lion (or leopard) " passant. " WWII close combat knives bearing a maker's mark are very unusual and rare, expecially for this design. While not in the best of conditions, a fighting knife worthly of a home with plenty of war-dated character. The scabbard that came with it is missing the clip on the back, has paint read more
