Remember ' loose lips sink ships' -- so they didn't take any chances ....... } ....... ...... THE ENVELOP IS STAMPED "PASSED" ' AND SIGNED BY THE U.S. NAVEL CENSOR - - ..............AND IT STILL HAS the original FOUR 'THREE CENT ' STAMPS INTACT . A NICE PERSONAL ITEM - with evidence of war time censorship , YOU SELDOM SEE THESE ON THE OPEN MARKET .......... DONT PASS IT UP ! the USS coral sea was launched in may , 1943 - she saw service until the end of the war -- she was a small carrier and only carried 28 aircraft the uss Anzio received six battle stars for service in world war two . The Secretary of the Navy commended the men of the USS Anzio "For outstanding heroism in action against enemy Japanese forces in the air, ashore and afloat. Operating in the most advanced areas"------------ in September 1943 her name was changed to the USS Anzio -she saw action at Kwajalein , eniwetok , the Solomon Islands , new guinea , saipan , guam , iwo jima and OKINAWA , the Philippines and was off the cost of Japan when the war ended . .
