HELMET: Up for auction is a WWII FRONT Seam (Made by McCord) Fixed bale. Has a Dark OD green finish and a ORIGINAL cork texture. The Khaki chinstraps and early brass WWII hardware have been aged to look original. The Markings of the 101st Airborne Division 506th PIR were painted by hand and then aged and detailed to look WWII authentic. Original OD Drawstring helmet net included. This shell has seen better days as far as one crack and few hair lines go, But the paint and finish are untouched and amazing.
HELMET LINER: This a VERY RARE & Original WWII INLAND Liner comes complete with: Original Khaki HBT webbing, Khaki A-yokes with Wire buckles, Aged leather chamois lined chincup, A Khaki sweatband and OD spring clips. Original steel A-washers set with steel rivets, leather chinstrap with OD hardware, An original Khaki napestrap. The liner is in good-used condition. Minus the Chincup, DOT snaps and A-yokes. this liner is all Original. The sweatband is made by "Gem Dandy" and the nape is maker marked by Johnson & Johnson, also the webbing on the liner is marked J&J. The Leather chinstrap has a "R" stamped under the leather. Also the liner retains its original one coat of paint, It has never been repainted or messed with.
HISTORY: During WWII not enough of the special M-2 and M-1C Steel pots were available, So many times Std. Fixed bales and Airborne liners were matched up. In many WWII B&W pictures you'll see both 82nd and 101st ABN troopers using this combo. In fact many 502nd and 82nd ABN helmets are Fixed bales. See Steel Pots Vol. 2 and Mark Reynosas books for such pictures.
