HELMET: Up for auction is a WWII FRONT Seam (Made by McCord) Swivel bale. Has a Dark OD green finish and a ORIGINAL cork texture. The OD chinstraps and WWII hardware are All Original. The Markings of an 82nd Airborne Division MP were painted by hand and then aged and detailed to look WWII authentic. The Steel pot's texture and Chinstraps are ALL original, Not messed with or redone. But the Markings were added by myself. Also note how the straps are OD#7 and yet the Hardware is the very early Brass stepped bar type... A rare sight.
HELMET LINER: This ALL ORIGINAL WWII Westinghouse Liner comes complete with all you see, Nothing is a reproduction on this liner. The webbing is tight and in pretty good condition, The Nape is by PKW and the Sweatband is made by " The Joseph N. Eisendrath Co." and is very nice condition. The leather is old and used, but still quite soft and very pliable, or cracking that I can see at all. Interesting is that the sweatband has 5 Alligators clips & 1 early Spring clip.
HISTORY: A little History on the liner is that this liner came with a supply I just received, Among the Helmets I received which were mostly 80's makes, This one was was in the pile indicating that this liner has been in US Army use since WWII till the day of its retirement in the 1980's. Not redone or repainted, the outer coat is the Original. the Leather chinstrap with OD hardware is used, well used but still intact and all the character needed to this liner.
