This is a WWII type M1C parachutist's helmet. The steel pot itself is a FRONT SEAM & is olive drab color with swivel bails. It has a rough texture to it, and looks good with no big worn spots, dents, or so on. The helmet liner is a "high-compression" type and is stamped "CAPAC" in a cross. The blackened hardware is in good shape, with light patina on some parts and t but nothing horrible. The A-straps are in good shape, and all the internal snaps are in place with the exception of the right-side paratrooper chin strap snap button. -It is missing but repairable. The liner HBT material is a light OD/khaki color with a little soiling but it is still solid. The only thing that is not original to the helmet as I purchased it is the sweat band, which is either post WWII or near-new; it's in great shape and is WWII type I think. -I put the sweat band in myself. The leather is in good shape. It includes the khaki color WWII nape strap. It has a leather liner chin strap with OD green hardware marked "SCOVILL". The chin cup is in excellent shape, it came with the helmet. Overall condition is very good for its age. T is some white chalk dust on it and t, but it will clean up very nice. T are no cracks, holes, or fractures of any type in either the helmet liner or steel shell. Included with the helmet are two approximatly 2-3 foot lengths of helmet camo scrim. The scrim is BURLAP, and I was told that the OD section of scrim is original. This would make a great addition to a display or collection; or re-enacting. The helmet is complete minus the button-in paratrooper type chin straps. I'm no expert on these; so it's being sold as is starting for what I originally paid for it, no time for inspection; need to put $ towards a down payment on new home. Used for some years as a teaching aid on a display. I can say that I purchased it from a local vet/militaria collector about 4-5 years ago in KY, not too far from Ft. Campbell.
I will ship anyplace in the world, but buyer pays all shipping. Strongly prefer money order for payment, but will accept Paypal if sold outside the continental 48 US; otherwise money order unless something else is arranged. This is a great helmet and I hate to part with it but I can use the $ more than having it sit in a classroom and gather dust. Starting price is what I paid for it some time ago. Shipping US parcel post should be between 7 and 10 dollars. Thanks for looking!
