***RELISTED due to yet another buyer not following through*** I've put a "buy it now" (best offer) on it for what I was told it should sell for. If it does not sell, I'll take it to the SOS next month and sell or trade it there. I just bought this cool WWII M-209-B Smith Corona Code Converter Cipher Machine from the Vet's family member. I think it was made in 1943. A kind fellow who I came across on the Web sent me a manual to follow to see if it "works", but the detail got over my head real fast! I'm assuming it all works because the knobs turned nice and seem to move fine... After all, are you going to use this thing for real???The case has one ding on the front left corner as you can see where I'm pointing in the third pic. There is small wax drip or two on the top that must have dripped on it some time ago, but I left it "as found".The inside is MINT and clean. Still has two tubes marked "O" and "I", plus a set of original tweezers... a reel of original paper too!Not sure what else to say about it, so have a look - the pics should tell all from here... you know what you are looking at anyway! NO clue as to how to price it, so how about a ONE PENNY opening bid? *** Thank a Veteran today... We owe them EVERYTHING!*** 1/22 - Well, I tried for quite some time to follow the directions a kind ebayer sent me as well as the PDF of the manual and this thing still has me perplexed. My main problem is that I don't know what parts are called what! I was told to "move the code wheel pins and drum bar lugs"... daaaaa, what? I have no clue what those parts look like and I could not find them explained in the manual - sorry guys... I tried! As clean as this gem is inside, I'd be willing to bet good money that it works just fine. So, best of luck everyone - I'll hide and watch from here!
