First, let me state that edged weapons are not in my area of expertise, so please ask if you need more info than is provided below.
This great old scabbard is approximately 17" long and in quite decent condition. The M1905 Bayonet listed in my other auctions fits inside perfectly, although they came to me separately. The metal at the top is very clearly marked USN MK1 which means this scabbard could have been either navy or Marine Corps issue. Marines fighting in the Pacific would have probably had a scabbard like this for the long Garand or '03 Springfield bayonet. The underside of the throat area has a very small stamping of B-N with a 3 over a 0 in between the letters. One of the belt hooks is slightly bent - not difficult to straighten, but will leave that to the new owner. Please look at my other auctions for more great items, like an M3 fighting knife!
