â~...Japanese empire Navy association purple merit badgeâ~... A number of organizations were founded whose purpose was to help seamen and their families or as associations for ex-seamen. This is a Purple Ribbon Distinguished Service Badge. This 1.198 inch diameter, silver and enameled badge is suspended from a red enameled bar 1.25 inches wide and is hallmarked. The gilt anchor with white enamel cherry blossom is applied. "White Ribbon" and "Blue Ribbon" badges with white or blue suspension bars have also been observed. This badge was issued in a black lacquer case 4 inches long and 2.375 inches wide with the name of the badge in silver characters on the lid. It is very Rare which purple merit badge finds.
