Included : · An embroidered patch, 3" x 2 1/8", white background, WTS Instructor (War Training Service) in blue, with wings and propeller. Clean and very good condition with one little pock on the edge. · Gold-tone metal wings with silver-colored propeller, marked Amcraft / Attleboro / Mass. Pattern back, no clutches (the one shown is not original), two pointy pegs, 1 1/4" x 3/4" · Wings, tarnished, back marked Dodge (?not sure that's right, it's obscure) Inc. / Chicago / Sterling . 2" wide x 1/2" tall. WWII era US Navy pilot wings. C-clasp, not a safety. · Odd thing. Great seal of the US hanging from an open rectangle. What is this? The back has been crudely etched. One side says brass, the other something else. Looks like a pendant. A zipper pull? Heavy. Back of button reads Waterbury Button Co. Odd. Bail to bottom is 1 3/4", side to side is 3/4". These are all in fine to excellent condition. They came from the estate of Oliver Luerssen. See my other auction for a listing of his CAA pins. He was a WWII pilot instructor in central Illinois . Mr. Luerssen joined the Navy in 1942 and was a ground school instructor in the V-5 program at Illinois Wesleyan University . He went on to an illustrious career at IWU. I know this from his obituary in the local paper, a copy of which I'll include with the pins. I have a related lot of
