Shown is a WW2 US NAVY SHIP'S COMPASS. Includes the often missing mounting gimbal. Maker is "B eck - Lee Corp". Also stamped " Bu Ships and No 3". A bit wider - 7 inches with gimbal. Compass proper measures 6 inches. 5 inches tall. Both the compass and gimbal have matching serial number "3042. This is an actual ships compass, the No 1& No 2 marked compasses were used on small boats (ships launches) and larger life boats, this is a No 3 which is a bit larger and has an electrical connection and internal light. The compass is in great condition for it's age, the compass is still extremely lively and accurate and there is no bubble in the fluid, the glass is undamaged and t he brass under housing is painted Navy grey with a few paint chips. Nice example of a WW2 US Navy compass...
