This is an ORIGINAL WWII US Navy Enlisted Man's or Officer's Visor Cap. Body is made of medium weight khaki cotton canvas like material and is in excellent condition. No damage at all. Has some small dots of age staining and a larger light stain to top (See Pic) and smudges of wear grime in places...not too noticeable and might clean up with a little proper TLC. Light signs of wear. Has excellent black leather visor and chinstrap. Has brass USN chinstrap buttons to the side (See Pic). Underside of bill is dark green cross-hatched texture. Has brown striated leather sweatband that shows light signs of wear and interior band area of hat has kind of a perforated straw/bamboo material for strength and shaping. There are no a size or maker tags I could find but thre is a name stamped to insde sweatband area. Has no sweat shield and dosen't appear to have had one. No rank identifying shield or roundel to front. has a lopo strin to back which I assume would be for hanging the hat. Has a slightly musty smell to it. Best thing is the size. Hat is snug on me and I wear a 7 1/2 so would easily fit a 7 3/8 size...SO,A LARGE,WEARABLE SIZE!! Overall,a nice US Navy Visor Hat example in an incredibly large size.
