The Patch: This auction is for one WWII Vintage 101st Airborne Division Patch with a Greenback . The tab that came with this patch is a whitebacked tab. It has been sewn on, and is in good condition. Who knows what service this patch saw. T is a nice green backing on this one. T is a ton of "snow" on this one. This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic. This is one of the mose desirable of all the World War II greenback patches. Don't lose out on your opportunity to own this great piece of World War II history.The History: The 101st was activated on August 15, 1942 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana from personnel drawn from the 82nd Airborne Division. It moved to Fort Bragg, NC for its airborne training and participated in the Tennessee maneuvers before embarking for Europe. The 101st first saw combat on D Day, June 6, 1944 when its units jumped into France in support of Operation Overlord. They destroyed many enemy units on the 6th and caused general confusion behind enemy lines on the 6th. The division linked up with the 4th Infantry coming off of Utah beach and then moved towards Carentan on the Cotentin Peninsula. They captured the heavily fortified town on June 12th.
