I have had this helmet in my collection for many years. This is not a reproduction. It has not been repainted, aged, refinished or made to look old. This is anoriginal World War II painted 506th para-infantry regiment, 101stAirborne helmet. The helmet is painted with the white spade that was the insignia for the 506th Para-infantry regiment on both sides. The 506th was part of the 101st Airborne division "Screaming Eagles". The 506th saw constant action throughout World War II. They were on the first waves of paratroopers into Normandy on D-day and fought their way up through France and Germany. Later in the war the 506th was at the Battle of the Bulge. This helmet has swivel bales and a rear seam which came out around the Battle of the Bulge. The rim of the helmet is staineless steel. It has the orginal World War II khaki chinstraps and the buckle is in perfect condition with no wear or corrosion. The finish of the helmet is excellent with no chips or rust. The helmet came with the helmet net (you can still smell the anti-fungus treatment that it was treated with by the army). The liner is a paratrooper liner made by Westinghouse which was the company that made the paratrooper liners. It had the A-straps cut which was done later in the war. The liner is in excellent shape. All the webbing and leather is in great shape. Webbing is khaki colored with no staining. the leather sweatband is not cracking and is soft and pliable. The leather chinstrap is also in excellent shape. It is not cracking and is very pliable. T is no corrosion on any of the metal parts. This is a pristine helmet. I have been collecting for 13 years and am selling this to make room in my collection. This is a great opportunity to own a great piece of history from one of the most famous regiments in WWII.
