This clock was found stored away with a collection of WWII memories. It is authentic and has been used.
The front of the clock identifies it as "Mark I. Deck Clock U.S. Navy (N Circled) 14530 1941" made by "Chelsea". The clock is 7 3/4" in diameter and 2 3/4" thick. The back has "F0765534" scratched on the metal. It has settings for "Stop", "Set Seconds", "Reg.", "Set" and "Wind". The original key is taped to the back. It weighs 6 pounds 4 ounces. The brass or metal has a protective coating that may, or may not, be original. There are a few minor scratches in the finish. There are some spots on the hands, but the face looks clean. There are some light scratches on the glass. There are no dents or other faults that I can find. I have no way of knowing how this would work, or if it does. This is from the estate of a friend who served with the US Army Signal Corps in Occupied Germany shortly after the end of WWII. We have no idea how this clock came into his possession. I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping. Hello, I have had some interested customers write to ask why I don't just wind it up to see how it works, since I have the key. My reason not to, is respect for both my buyer and the clock. My job is to error on the side of caution and do no harm to the clock. I did check to make sure the key fits. I see that it has settings for Stop, Reg., Set and Wind. Trying to wind the clock without those settings in place might do some damage. Could it be locked for storage? How hard do I wind? Which way? My local watch repairman said he didn't know how to wind it properly. I have never wound a clock before and don't want to start with an historical treasure. Thank you for your understanding, oz5477
