This is an interesting set of letters written by a US sailor to his mother and I think his step-father. The strength of this collection is more with the stationary/letterheads than with the actual content of the letters. T are a few more letterheads than what are shown in the pictures and t are multiple letters for each of the letterheads shown. Thera are also postcards, pictures, and some interesting covers. Also, this sailor fractured his leg when he fell down in a boat in San Diego, and then spent most of the next 6 months at the US Naval Hospital in San Diego. The letters begin in May of 1943 at the United States Naval Training Station in Farragut, Idaho. In August of 1943, he goes to the Navy Pier in Chicago to diesel school at the US Naval Air Technical Training Center. He then goes to I.C.E. (?) school and landing craft school in San Diego w he breaks his leg. During his recovery he spends some time with his wife at the Drake Hotel and t are a few letters written by her to his parents. After leaving the hospital, the covers indicate A.T.B-R&M, Coronado and t are a few letterheads that have a logo for the U. S. Naval Amphibious Training Base Coronado San Diego 55 California. T are a few letters from May to November of 1945 when he enters the Pacific Theater. The addresses on the covers at this time are Receiving Barracks Navy
