See the scans of the front and back. This is an unusual theater-made variation of the U.S. Army Combat Infantry Badge. Looks like it was probably cast in white metal and has thick blue enameling applied. Not sure if this is WWII, Korean War or Vietnam period, but it is an odd example for the specialist collector. The CIB was a prized award for the infantry soldier. Worn with his ribbon bars on the left chest, the CIB indicated that the soldier had served in active ground combat. Approved in 1944, the enlisted soldiers who earned the CIB received an extra $10 per month pay. In 1947, CIB holders could apply for and receive a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. The Combat Infantry Badge is still awarded today. XF+ condition, a bit crudely made, odd metal clutch fasteners. NO RESERVE !!!
