is a very special find. An authentic early version of the 1940's Model 2 JOHN EK Commando Fighting Knife Serial # C190. This was the 3,190th knife made, of this model. It is engraved "John Ek Knife" on the blade, right under the serial #. It is made from high-quality, nickel-chrome-moly steel, which was scarce during WWII, but the government allowed him to keep producing with this material. The total length from the extended butt to the tip is 12 5/8". The Rock Maple grips are about 1 inch wide and 4 3/8" long. The blade is 7 1/8" long. "Poured-Lead" Rivets were used to affix the two wooden grips to the full length blade tang, which is one of John Ek's distinctive traits. Another trait is the serial #. D uring WWII each knife was individually serial numbered and registered in the owner's name. The purchaser had to fill out a registration card certifying that the owner was a member of the armed forces, giving his name, rank, and service serial number. It was definitely put to use during the war, and is in very good condition. Everything is smooth, without any knicks, and the blade is sharp on both ends. This is a great find!!
