is an extraordinary example of Uncle Sam's commitment to excellence during WWII. It's a U.S. Navy ship's compass in its original packing case. The compas measures approximately 9 3/4" in diameter. The packing case measures approximately 13 3/4" x 13 3/4" x 7 3/4" tall and is painted battleship grey. The marks on the compass are as follows: U.S. NAVY BU. SHIPS. MARK I SERIAL 6707 1941 LIONEL CORPORATION N.Y. The compass card itself is a work of art. The markings are actually punch-outs which give an interesting effect. Also, the compass retains its full charge of alcohol with no bubbles. The brass body of the compass also retains all of its black paint. This is truely a wonderful piece of history which will make an excellent addition to any WWII or Navy collection.
