Hey Everyone! I have got today just one of the many WWII groupings that I will be selling over the next few months. Please continue to watch my other auctions for more outstanding items to come!
Up today is this marvelous, named WWII-Korea 2nd Armored Division medal grouping! It is certainly rare to come across groups like this one! This group belonged to Frank O. Stubblefield, a member of Company F, 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division. As you can see, Sgt. Subblefield was highly decorated! The medal group has been mounted, yet in a manner to w all the pieces can be removed with no damage whatsoever. Unfortunately, the display has fallen apart (t was a wood case as well), but you get what you see Included is the following: Bronze Star Medal with V for Valor (Unnamed), American Defense Medal with Campaign star, Army Commendation Medal (Named), Bronze Star (Named), Good Conduct Medal (Unnamed), and WWII Victory Medal. A rack of ribbons is included as well as a Belgian Fourragere (the border of the display), a Master Sgt. Insignia, and what looks to be a little Shriner's insignia. The rack of ribbons includes the following decorations: Presidential Unit Citation, Bronze Star with V for Valor and Cluster, Army Commendation, Army Commendation (with four knots), American Defense with campaign star, American Campaign, EAME with seven campaign stars, WWII Victory, National Defense, Korea, Armed Forces Expedition, and UN Service Medal. This gentleman obviously had a distinguished career! The back of the display is the jewel, for on the back is a card stating Mr. Stubblefield as a member of the 2nd Armored Division Association and even a list of the campaigns he participated in (Morocco, Sicily, Normandy France, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes Belgium, and Central Europe). Additionally, t is a list of the decorations Master Sgt. Stubblefield earned, including the French Croix de Guerre and the Netherlands Resistance Cross. What a modest display for a man who had seen so much! The group truly is great. The only detraction, is that it looks as though the fronts of the medals had had some type of varnish applied (though it really does not adversely affect the display of the items, and I'm positive could be removed with ease!). I did some brief research on Sgt. Stubblefield and this is a sample of what I came up with: Frank O Stubblefield 06388206 was a native of Alabama and a resident of Fulton, Georgia at the time of his enlistment. The NARA research will be included with the item This is an excellent, truly excellent group! What an absolutely wonderful addition this medal grouping would be to any WWII or Armored Collection! I will work with you to make this a great experience as buying on ebay should be. All questions are more than welcome and heartily encouraged. I appreciate you looking and hope you have a great day! ******* Don't forget to take a look at my other militaria auctions! *******
