Up for auction is a very nice set of Army Air Force, USN, USMC AN6531 Type II flying sunglasses as were issued to aviators during WWII. These were made by American Optical and are in excellent, wearable condition, showing only a trace of wear. The frame is sound. The light green lenses are in great shape, showing only a few very minor surface scratches. T's a minute flea bite at the extreme edge of the right lens, which you won't notice unless you look for it. I just wanted to point it out and have added a close-up photo for your review. You definitely won't see it when wearing the glasses. The bakelite nose pads and sweat bar are in good shape as well. Use the super-size feature to take a good look.
Included is the original leather storage case. The case shows wear, including some cracking, but still protects the glasses and the snap works well. The case is notched in the back to allow it to be worn on a belt, as was commonly done in the field. Offered as shown at a reasonable opening and NO RESERVE. Postage $6.50 to U.S. locations (insurance optional); $15.00 overseas. Sold as-is and all sales are final , so please be sure to ask any questions before bidding. I'm selling several different sets of vintage sunglasses this week so be sure to check out my other auctions.
