OK, are y'all ready for this auction??? When I bought this group from the Vet's family member, I had planned on keeping it since I love unusual WWII groupings, but once again money woes and a bad collecting habit get in the way! So, it must be sold. This U.S. Marine Pilot flew the Corsair Fighter aircraft with the "Hell's Angles" of VMF-321 in the Pacific. I really don't know where to begin... The uniforms are amazing and in fine condition - ALL are named to the man, the dress blues are even dated! I love the tan light weight jacket with the Hell's Angles emblem painted on it - the only negative is his name tag on the front left chest was removed, sorry... I find it like I find it. His hat is named and the P-1941 shirt/jacket is named, front and back - a little heavy on the ink that day I guess. His High School diploma is included as is his Jr. Collect diploma. Apparently, he was in the Navy Pre-Flight School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before he joined up...note the pillow case (some bleeding of the printing) and bible from there. The photos are many, most of them GREAT! A couple are wrinkled a bit, but most are MINT. Several are not pictured... he had a different gal in each one it seems. Check the one picture out of him on the street... you can see the Squadron emblem on his leather jacket. I sure wish the family had that thing! Cool medal cigarette case found it one of the pockets of the dress blues too. His 1993 obituary says he got the Distinguished Flying Cross and in seveal pics you can see his ribbon rack clearly. How about the WINGS?!? I did not know they made them out of gold back then - shows what I know - but apparently they are 10k marked where my pocket knife blade is pointing in the last image. This group was in storage for many, many years and was just recently discovered by the family. There was a lot of paperwork that was post-war related and it was all in the tan canvas "flight bag" in the lower left of the first picture. It apparently got wet due to the stains and smell of the paper that I trashed, but other than the bag (which is solid and nice, just nasty), all of this stuff is in GREAT condition! I think I covered it all, but I'm sure there are some goodies I did not talk about. You will be more than pleased with this lot - guaranteed. Not sure what else to say about it, so have a look - the pics should tell all from here. ONE PENNY opening bid so someone wins... *** Thank a Veteran today... We owe them EVERYTHING!*** *** OK, so I'm not good at spelling! The Squadron nick name was the Hell's ANGELS , not Angles. *** There are no EGA's on the Dress Blues. The only EGA is on the overseas cap and it is facing the wrong way.... again, I find the stuff like I find it! I could have dressed this group up, but it is ALL as found, nothing added, nothing taken away. Usually when stuff comes from a family (as most of you know) and is "honest" and "untouched", this is what you get - missing ribbons, medals, insignia, patches, etc. I felt lucky to find anything from this Vet!
