World WarII / WW II1895 US bayonet & Metal Scabbard Theblade of the bayonet is marked 1895 near the base on one side and US near the base on the other. The shelf separating the blade from the handle has rounded ends and there is a hole on one side. The shape of the metal end of the handle looks a bit like a stylized eagle head with a raised "eye" on one side that can be pressed to raised a "D" on the other sides and there are two metal pins with raised centers dot both sides of the wood handle.The metal scabbard has a round ball on the tip, a flat liner around the opening and the movable strap handle is attached to the back just below the rim.The bayonet measures 16" long from tip to end and the blade is approximately 11-1/2" long. The scabbard is 12-5/8" long (not including the strap handle) x 1-7/16" wide at the top.Please note that: the tip of the blade of the bayonet is rounded there is a shallow dip on the top of the blade just behind the tip there are several small rough spots on the sharpened edge of the blade the blade shows age wear with scuffing, scratching and dark spots the blade appears to be very faintly crooked there are scratches, scuffs and several small dents and dings on the shelf separating the blade from the handle there are patches of surface rust on the shelf the wood handle shows some age wear with scuffs read more
