Outstanding example of the very rare British WWII special forces 4-pocket hooded smock in desert tan color. These also came in a green denim color and are made of heavy cotton. This is the same pattern as the more commonly found camouflage windproof smock, but the material is heavier and more durable. The smock is complete and still has the stitching w the spec tag was located inside the smock (behind one of the lower pockets) but the spec tag itself is missing, as it would be if the smock was issued because they usually disintegrated after the first wash. Buttons are all present and correct, as is the heavy cotton draw string at the waist and at the neck. The color is that particular almost-pinkish color worn by SAS and LRDG troops in North Africa. I also found a reference to these smocks being worn by British Mountain Troops, as well as on the famous Telemark Commando Raid against the Heavy Water Plant at Telemark. The smock is a large size - I am 6'2" and it fits me fine. Shows light service wear only - just enough to let you know it was used - still perfectly wearable if desired. Guaranteed to be 100% original British WWII manufacture. Almost impossible to find.
