Unusual late-war sextant manufactured for the German Kriegsmarine by storied Hamburg maker C. Plath. All mirrors and filters are complete, and the sighting telescope is intact and functional (if a bit foggy). Adjusting knob intact and made from Bakelite or bone. Bottom scale is marked "C. Plath Hamburg" with maker's insignia, and swing arm includes German eagle (partly scratched out by a prior owner, but doubtlessly restorable if you're so inclined), Kriegsmarine "M", and serial number 8578. Note that markings are sufficiently incomplete/obscured to meet all eBay sales requirements. Fitted wood box appears original (no markings) and includes a few minor accessories and (best of all) a calibration certificate from Hamburg dated 1946. Best of all, t is NO RESERVE to this auction, so bid early and often! This is a rare one.
