I have up for sale a very nice vintage original WW2 bayonet and scabbard along with the frog. I just purchased this from an 87 year old WW2 vet - so t is no question of its authenticity and I am 99.9% certain that the 3 pieces are an original set. I am not an expert in knives or bayonets but I will try to describe it best I can. For starters it is in superb condition - that is for sure.I see 2 markings on the knife - t is a waffenampt stamp - the same mark appears on the scabbard - it is stamped on the underside of the handle.This is shown in my last pic but I could not get a decent closeup. T is also an encircled Z stamped on the upper section of the blade. The leather frog has an incised mark on its backside. I can make out most but not all of it. It says FRANZ BREHNE below this are a group of letters that i can only partially decipher -it looks something like MSRC 1940. I can make out the 1940 part clearly but the first section is just to difficult to fully ascertain. The scabbard section is marked with the letters CSZ and the German factory mark - an Eagle - straight wings with WaA63. Now - I am surely not an expert in regards to this type of thing but I think that this is possibly a S 24(t) . I would appreciate any input as I know that you guys that watch these sales are the experts - I surely am not. T is another thing that I noticed about this knife that is a bit different - the blade has a matt type finish -its not your typical blued steel version. I have tried to accurately describe what I see. Please email if t is any questions that you need an answer to. I have provided alot of pics - please view and inspect them all -click an image to enlarge for better detail. Make your own condition accessments - I think that its in fantastic shape.
