This is a real genuine souvenir brought back after the war. Has been in a closet for over 60 years. Brought out occasionally for bragging rights. It has two moth holes one on top of hat in the back and one front face along lining. The orginial silver eagle is long gone. The leather head or sweat band is very worn and has some writing that I do not understand about size 6 3/4. Hat seems in good form. Curved visor the way it should be. Some cracking on hat band but not going all the way through or breaking anyw In good condition overall for its age.I guarantee this is a real orginial WWII Luftwaffe hat. Color is olive green and is not faded at all from sunlight. Insurance required. For sale in US only for collectors. This is a real genuine souvenir brought back after the war. REVISED Thank you all for the emails, I can no longer claim this as a Luftwaffe as I thought, but is a geniune German Visor Cap. I can remember years ago writing inside but now I can find no trace of it. It may have been a manufacturing tag that is now gone. I wish I could ask the gentleman who owned this but I cann't he is gone. is what I do know. The gentleman who owned this was an army veteran of World War II. He did not collect this stuff, it was in a wood box in a closet for years. The hat is olive green with lima bean green piping. The hat band is dark green stitched together in the back. T are moht holes one on top in back and one along piping right hand side. The inside is dark brown cloth lining water stained, no writing on a "57". The leather type sweat band is badly deteriated and the stitching is loose in front. Under side of visor is light brown, visor itself has some chipping nothing bad, no cracks, no chuncks missing. I was also told this was made with a wire form on the inside of the top. I don't feel anything up t now. This could explain the loose stitching. Anyone with questions please email. Satisfaction guarenteed or money back.
