X-LARGE ANDALUSIANA TRILOBITE FROM MOROCCO WITH N/R X-Large Andalusiana Trilobite from Morocco with No Reserve presented by Sahara-imports **************************You are bidding on this BEAUTIFUL AND REAL TRILOBITE originally from ALNIF south east of MOROCCO dated from the Lower Cambrian period (550 million years ago). ! Note that this trilobite was excavated from the Cambrian sedimentary rocks by using bombs. As this kind of trilobites is quite big, it is always breaking when rock is split to locate fossils. This unavoidable damaging method often leaves missing parts and highly fragmented specimens left to assemble and restore... This example of Andalusiana is a nice commercial quality with approximately 15% restoration. Still it is a very nice specimen for collectors looking for an impressive display ! The size of the specimen is 10 1/2 " by 8" (matrix included). Trilobites are hard-shelled, segmented creatures that lived hundreds of millions of years ago in the Earth's ancient seas. They are considered to be one of our planet's earliest complex life-forms and are one of the key signature creatures of the Paleozoic Era. Trilobites went extinct before dinosaurs even existed. Trilobites were the first creatures with a skeleton (Exoskeleton) so they were easily fossilized. Their shell is divided lengthwise into three lobes (hence, the name TRILOBITE meaning "three-lobed"): a central axial lobe, and two symmetrical pleural lobes that flank the axis. Morphologically, the trilobite body is divided into three major sections: - a cephalon (or head) with eyes, mouthparts and sensory organs such as antennae - a middle region called the thorax, made up of a number of overlapping segments (anyw from 2 to 61); - a pygidium (or tail section) in which the segments were fused. This is a VERY NICE PIECE and t is NO RESERVE PRICE so bid for a chance to add this beautiful fossil to your collection.
