Spectacularly Rare AIRMOBILE FLIGHT JACKET PATCH GARRYOWEN 7th Cavalry - Vietnam War Patch ( GARRYOWEN ) Airmobile - Flight Jacket Patch The 7th Cavalry, Garryowen sent three Airmobile Battalions to Vietnam. The 1st and 2nd Battalion, a total of over 1,500 operatvies arrived out of Fort Benning in September of 1965 with the 3rd battalion arriving in Vietnam in August of 1966 (out of Fort Carson). All three battalions served with the 1st Cavalry Division with detached 1st Battalion dedicating sole service to the US Special Forces for a short period. 1st BN, 7th Cavalry left the 1st Cavalry Division in early December 1969 when they temporarily attached to Operation Phoenix missions in the Mekong Delta. Assigned to assistance of Mike Force, US Special Forces and Provincial Recon Units in the Mekong they were based at Phuoc Long.
