Ribbed Vase #2 This is the 2nd specimen of 3 (unrecorded form) Midwestern type vases. Found at an antique show in the 1980's. Measures 8 1/2". Pretty much identical to 31 but wider in the body and a shade deeper than #1 Just as #1 ....unusual 40 rib ' right swirl '.. ( more like Pitkin type flask ribbing ). It appears that the gather was inserted into a 40 rib dip mold, withdrawn and further expanded, shaped out and completed in the desired pincered ' flat--- to~~waved mouth ' And also as #1.....Glass tipped pontil. Good base wear and again....the same unusual shoulder iridescence visible in reflected light possibly caused by furnace flashover of ambient gases? Infolded rim Glass color ranges from deep orange- amber at base to radiant glowing golden amber in main body. This specimen #2 is very close to specimen #1 ,but is somewhat darker in color and more wide in the body. The photos say it better than I can. **************************************************************************************** I have listed all 3 vases at the same time.... So that the bidder/collector will be able to choose any or all three variants at the same time without wondering if more will show up later. These 3 are all I've ever seen in 35 years of intense collecting, viewing and handling over 1/2 million glass items. I have also used as a reference McKearin's 200 Years of American Blown Glass. **************************************************************************************** Also..I have a huge collection of Mexican/Spanish/Mediterranean glass from the 20th Century that I've been gathering for over 35 years which has allowed me to do close side by side comparisions against these vases and other glass... and have concluded that the vases being offered are unrecorded American Midwestern. That neatly folded rim is especially relevent and like the early midwestern specimens of Mantua and Kent in Ohio *************************************************************************** Low opening bid-Modrate reserve (Moderate reserve is not meant as an indication of true value) Postage determined at auction end. I don't make money on postage All sales are final. All items are represented and described to the best of my ability with the aid of any current available knowledge, information or other resources available. No returns. Please ask any questins BEFORE placing a bid. I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. I reserve the right to end the auction early but would only do so in the case of no interest. Thank you and good luck ((( RED ALERT ))).... This is a note to all bidders presently bidding in my auctions ... Folks...please be very aware of scumbag crooks attempting to trick you by email sometime after the end of auctions that you win. They will tell you that your sellers Paypal account has suddenly been frozen and is unable to accept payments from you. These dirtbags will then tell you that they are authorized by Paypal to receive your payment on behalf of the seller by having you sending a M O N E Y G R A M to them. . IGNORE THEM- REPORT THEM to spoof@ebay and DON'T GET SUCKERED IN. Don't send a penny and don't click on any link they might attach. Both buyer and seller usually get the same or similar BS email. Again just report it and ignore it and then you can just go ahead and complete your transaction with the seller normally .
