An Original Vintage Theater-Used Unfolded One-Sheet Movie Poster (26 1/2" x 39 1/2") from Blue Velvet, the cult classic 1986 David Lynch (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award) mystery crime sex-and-drugs thriller (about a young man who begins to investigate a woman accused of murder only to become deeply involved with many deranged characters) starring Isabella Rossellini, Kyle MacLachlan, Dennis Hopper, Laura Dern, Hope Lange, Brad Dourif, and Dean Stockwell Important Added Info: Note that this poster was never machine folded! An unfolded poster is almost always far more difficult to find than a folded poster of the same title, and finding unfolded posters in excellent condition is even more difficult! Also note that this one-sheet measures 26 1/2" x 39 1/2". Please do not bid on it thinking that it is 27" x 40". Overall Condition: good to very good. This poster was never folded (if it was ever folded at one time, we clearly note that in the auction, but it has been stored rolled for a long time). The poster has some clear imperfections which can likely can be seen by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster. Note that, the poster may also have very tiny creases or other tiny defects which are difficult to see in our image. One-Sheets are the standard movie poster size, what you see outside of any movie theater. From 1896 until roughly 1990, almost all actual theater-used one-sheets measured 27" x 41" (since then, most one-sheets measure 27" x 40"). Up until 1980 (or tabouts) the vast majority of one-sheets were folded twice horizontally and once vertically (this is in no way considered a defect). Sometime during the late '70s, studios began printing one-sheets rolled. Most one-sheets after the mid-1980s are printed unfolded, though it is still possible to find some newer posters folded. Many newer one-sheets are printed double-sided (with a mirror image on the back) for use in a light box in front of the theaters. However, sometimes the studios also print some posters single-sided, so a recent poster can be single-sided and still be studio issued.
