[ Hide Details ] y264 YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU 8x10 movie still '38 James Stewart Note: "emovieposter" is only on our digital image, NOT on the actual item. Also, we are changing our photography setup! Images with a solid black background are ones that were photographed on our new black metal background. We now hold the posters in place with magnets (so we do not have to attach the poster to the wall in any way), which are small and round and resemble "push pins", but we assure you they are NOT! If an image has a black background, know that the odd circles in the edges of the item are magnets that hold it in place, and are NOT a defect! An Original Vintage Theater-Used 8" x 10" Movie Still from You Can't Take it With You, the 1938 Frank Capra romantic family comedy (Best Director & Best Picture Academy Award winner) starring Jean Arthur (she was a major star of the 1930s, but she was far from an "overnight success"!; she was born in 1900, and appeared in 46 silent movies, mostly in minor roles; once sound movies began, she quickly gained stardom, no doubt partially due to her distinctive voice, and she became a major star in her middle thirties!), Lionel Barrymore, James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart), Edward Arnold, Mischa Auer, Ann Miller, Spring Byington (in her nominated for Best Supporting Actress Academy Award role), and Lillian Yarbo Overall Condition: good. Want to know more about the condition of this item? This vintage movie publicity still is in "good" condition (a collector's term that means "quite lesser"). It has real defects typical of poorly stored photographs that are ten to eighty years old, and the still surely has several scuffs or smudges in the surface emulsion, which likely are somewhat visible when the still is looked at head-on. Note that our small image of this still on this auction page leads to a really HUGE image of this still, so please look at that larger image, as it will certainly greatly help you know exactly what condition this still is in! But bear in mind that many light "scuff" marks or tiny creases (especially in the emulsion) may not be as noticeable in our larger image, as they can be seen when the still is tilted in the light, but when the still is looked at "head on" (or when it is scanned, as in our digital image above), they are not nearly as visible, although they are likely noticeable, which is part of why this still is graded as being in "good" condition. It is likely that this still does have at least some such scuff or smudge marks, and consider that BEFORE you place a bid on this still. Bear in mind that this is an ORIGINAL vintage still, and tfore it is sure to have imperfections, but that goes with collecting vintage stills! 8x10 Stills are photographs printed on thin glossy paper that were created for all movies from the 1910s through the present day. Studios would often issue dozens of different stills for each movie, and they would be sent to theaters showing the movies. Starting in the 1960s, many collectors began reproducing stills, and it can be sometimes difficult to distinguish between original theater-used stills and reproductions (the main differences are the quality of the...
