This is a Japanese WWll Naval pilot or submarine crew's sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Kishu ju Tsunahiro 紀州住綱廣", shinogi-zukuri shape, muromachi period ca.1550 era made old family blade. The blade is in old full polish, no rust, no stain and in excellent condition. There is no nick, no bend, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The temper line is wavy gunome- choji temper pattern and has deep temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame hada , no openings, no blister and no forging flaws. The scabbard is leather covered wood scabbard, no tear, no crack, no bend and in mint condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. It measures 16+5/8" cutting edge, 1+1/16" width, 5 mm thickness at the notch and 27" in mountings.
