Bombay Express,Irwin 46’, 1982 In Brief Following a year of restoration, over50,000 dollars, and countless sweat equity, the Bombay Express isreturning to the blue. We are in the final stages of adding all of the bellsand whistles that she requires for cruising. Her 52’ length (45’ 6” plus bowsprit)offsets her considerable beam (13’6”), making for a spacious yacht with greatlines. Out on the water you will quickly appreciate how she handles at 15knots. Her spacious interior makes her the ideal cruising yacht and/or liveaboard for families and friends. Her center cockpit contributes to her ease ofsailing with a small crew. After single-handing her for over a year, I am happyto report that she gracefully slipped into the most challenging marinas in theSan Francisco Bay. Single-handing a yacht of this size is obviously notrecommended, but she made it easy. I began her restoration intending to circumvent, but mylife has taken a new course since my fiancé accepted my proposal. We are nowlooking for a smaller yacht that will suit our shared lifestyle. The BombayExpress will be missed, but love can make a land lover out of the saltiest ofdogs.
