Up for auction are these three Yale & Towne Mfg. Co. Federal Eagle post office box doors. They are still hooked together as they were in the late 1800's. On the back of the doors it says Design Pat'd. Jan. 1, 1895 on the left side and Patented Jan. 26, 1892 on the right. In the middle is a logo that is shaped like a club with Y & T inside which stands for Yale & Towne Mfg. Co. On the front of the door is the old time Eagle. He is clutching an olive branch in one claw and three arrows in his other claw. Please note that the arrows are separated at the points unlike on other doors. The shield has the strips on it and the background looks like sun rays behind the Eagle. The original bevelled glass and numbers are still intact although because of the age of the paint the numbers are flaking. The size is 3 5/8" across X 5" tall for each door, and is known as the #1 size. I do not have locks for these doors. All three doors open, and the closure latch snaps doors shut. My dad collected these doors back in the 1970"s. He would polish and clean them, get them working and make banks out of them. This was one he had left to do.
