You're looking at a Yamaha RX11 drum machine from the early-mid 1980s. It has MIDI, tape sync, individual outputs for each sound and a stereo output too, across which each sound can be individually panned. Each sound can also have its own output level and accent level. The pads are not velocity sensitive, but there is an Accent button that when played with a pad will add accent to it. Some of the sounds have multiple variations - there are several snares and kicks, for example - and the samples are fixed in memory, so you can't upload your own. They're pretty nice though in that lo-fi 80s way. Making patterns is easy, in either real-time or step-time. Chaining patterns into songs is also easy. MIDI allows the drum machine to play external equipment, or vice versa. Full MIDI spec can be found in the user manual (not included, but very easy to find online). Everything works! The pads, the sliders, the outputs - the backlight still works on the display, though the blue glow doesn't really show up in the photo. The text is easy to see, and the bits that should light up do so. It has a built-in power supply and UK mains lead. What else to say? It's a good unit.
