This is a pretty rareitem, much sought after for its build quality & sound. If you read the attachedlinks you’ll see they are very popular and don’t come up for sale much as people don’t usually part with them. Apparently Yamaha didn’t make them for long as they were trying to break the upper end market so they cost a fortune to make and they didn’t get their money back on them. Some sites say these are mahogany body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard, others alder, maple and ebony, not sure as its well painted. This one was made in Japan in the 80’s where all the good guitars came from, serial number is KXHN115 and has Made in Japan on the rear of the headstock and Yamaha Japan on each tuner. At the time of posting this ad there was only one other like this on here worldwide, and the lower level SE700E for nearly twice the money I’m starting this at, item no. 121064705432 Reviews are here here here and here . A dream to play, low’ish action, coil tap on the tone control, neck humbucker and an active EMG at the bridge. Has Yamahas own version of a Floyd Rose bridge, just missing the trem bar which can be got ebay for a fiver. Fully set up with the bridge floating nicely parallel to the body, low action with no buzz, minimal fret wear, perfect intonation, straight neck, recent new Ernie Ball 10’s, all in all an excellent example. read more
