Offered at auction is an Official Major League Baseball that has been hand-signed by ace relief pitcher, Goose Gossage, and inscribed with his uniform number 54. Gossage pitched for several major league teams but he achieved great fame and success with the New York Yankees and San Diego Padres between 1978 and 1987. He was among the first of the modern day devastating closers with a tremendous fastball. He earned 310 saves and a career ERA of 3.01. Many of those saves were memorable. He was on the mound to save the famous playoff game between the Yankees and Red Sox that won the pennant for the Yankees in 1978. He appeared in 9 All Star games.
