Unusual threaded glass Biscuit barrel by Mappin and Webb. This biscuit barrel is unique in several respects, the color is rare and its composition of threaded glass overlay is usually only found on match strikers from the same period. It is very interesting that a renowned silver company like Mappin and Webb decided to commission a Biscuit barrel of this nature. To top it off, they added a specially designed twisted vine silver plate handle and ornate knob on the lid. Biscuit barrels were traditionally used to hold biscuits for afternoon tea. This will be a lovely addition to either a Biscuit barrel, rare glass or even a match striker collector!
