You are bidding on a yellow Gibson Vaseline Glass dagger This beautiful dagger measures 12" in length and weighs about 4 pounds. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It is made of solid yellow Vaseline Glass . Vaseline Glass has a unique property which is responsible for its popularity and fame. It is manufactured with uranium compounds which are mixed into the glass during the manufacturing process. The result is the yellow color to the glass and when held up to a UV black light it glows brightly. You can get a pretty good idea of how striking this dagger looks under a black light from the photos. If you were to hold a Geiger counter up to Vaseline Glass you would register a tiny amount of radiation coming from it, however it is completely safe. The only way the radiation could potentially pose a hazard would be if you were to stab someone with this dagger or if you were to grind up the glass and inhale it, however if you do either of those two things, you have much more to worry about than a little bit of Alpha radiation! The handle is exquisitely carved. I tried to capture some of the detail in my photos, however the photos don't do this piece justice. In person it is a hundred times more beautiful.
