Neat "old collection" ore specimen from William S. Norman (Spokane, WA) estate.1" THICK x 3" WIDE x 4 1/2 " LONG... a real hefty hand-size specimen![Mr. Norman had an interest in mines at York, MT and a "York Mining Company"operated the Golden Messenger claim group in the 1910's; but Mr. Norman'sinvolvement with the York Mining Co. and/or the Golden Messenger Lode aren'tclear to me; was there a different York Mine ? ...I have a geologist's report onthe Golden Messenger completed for York Mining Co. in 1914 (from Mr. Norman'sestate, as well) but no mention of any "Glory Hole" is made.]There might be another "York Mine" (?) or this specimen may have come from theGolden Messenger(?) Specimen is partially oxidized sulfides- Iron Pyrite mostlywith some Chalcopyrite, minor Bornite, etc. (How much gold? Probably some;but possibly not much?) Thanks for looking...and have fun bidding!
