This is a large figure group by Will Young of Runnaford Pottery Widecombe. It shows all the characters of Uncle Tom Cobley an' All with an overladen donkey on the road to Widecombe Fair. It measures 11" long by 6.5" high. It is a really unusual item with lots of character. There are two small areas of damage which have been skilfully repaired. One is the left arm of the man in photo 5: This has been refixed after a clean beak on the forearm, and the end of the hand repaired. This may not show up fully on the photo, and you have to scrutinise it to see the join in the dark colour. The other is the tail of the little dog, (photo 6) which again has been neatly refixed after a clean break, with a minute bit still missing off the end. Again you do have to look closely for this. None of these facts really affect the display quality of this item, but they have been significantly allowed for in the starting price of this valuable piece. Otherwise the figure is in superb condition with no other form of damage. There is a tiny bit of crazing visible closely on the paler bits, but it looks fabulous, and still has a nice deep gloss and strong colours. It is signed on the base "Will Young, Devon". This would make a really nice collector's item.
