New Zealand Native Maori TEKO TEKO Carved Wood Figure w/Paua Eyes ONE (1) Māori (indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand) "Teko Teko" Carved Wooden Figure. It is carved from native wood, called "Kauri" & has inset iridescent "Pāua" shell eyes. The Teko Teko was carved by the Maori as a representation of an ancestor, a Warrior. The figure has it's tounge out. Unsigned, other than a sticker on the reverse "Hand Carved in Aotearoa, N.Z. Timber - Kauri" & "R26C". Unsure of age, probably 1980's - 1990's. Measures approx. 7-5/8" tall x 1-3/4" deep/wide. It is used, but in good condition as shown. No damage (dings, dents, etc) noted. This would make a nice addition to your valuable collection.
