Zeiss 12 X 60 Range Finder "Farbglaser" Binoculars WWII An interesting history makes these Zeiss range finder binoculars a great collectors piece. The binoculars are in their oriiginal battle scarred, well used condition. They are still in good working order. These binoculars are the relics of hard fought combat during the war. Although I don't know the story behind these binoculars, I do know that these were found among my Grandfather's things. My Uncle was in the Merchant Marine during the war, and these Zeiss binoculars somehow made their way to Byram, Connecticut, along the Byram River, at my Grandparent's house. The plate fastened to the top of the binoculars reads: blc (which denoted the manufacturer Carl Zeiss Jena Germany, 12 X 60 5 degree, Nr.. The knob that selects the optional light and dark gray filters is marked "Farbglaser". The serial number stamped on the underside of the body is: 303639. On one side is a button marked "lrocklen-luft" and the other side has "Trocken-luft".The overall dimensions of these binoculars are as follows: 16" end-to-end, 5 1/4" scope end, 6" eyepiece end, 2" - 2 1/2" high and the unit weighs 10# 7.2 oz.All-In-All, these binoculars would make a great item for the WWII collection buff. From my research, they are not that easy to find. Thanks for looking................!!
