Up for auction is an original WW2 or pre WW2 Carl Zeiss 4 power rifle scope with the original claw mounts and leather lense caps in near mint condition. The scope is maker marked Carl Zeiss Jena Zielvier Nr. 49270. The optics are clear and bright but t is a small dicoloration to the rear lense, which isn't very noticeable but I want to mention it for accuracies sake. The lenses don't have any spots or other inclusions, nor are t any chips. The reticle pattern is the typical pointed post with horizontal side bars. The blueing on the scope rates approx 95%. The double claw mounts are retained by screws and are tfore adjustable or easily removed. The brown leather lense cover is in great condition and is marked Zielvier on one of the end caps. This type scope was used on K98 Mauser sniper rifles with low turret mounts, high turret mounts, long side rail, single claw mount, and double claw mounts. These scopes and mounts were also commercially available and may have also been used on sporting rifles and drillings of the era also. Most of these claw mounts were specifically fitted to a particular rifle, so chances are it may not fit your rifle. This rig was returned home by a local ww2 veteran and isn't a put together rig, it's just the way I bought it, never cleaned or altered. This rig will not disappoint even the most finicky collector.
