ZENITH, MODEL 5D027Z, FIVE TUBES, AM BAND, C. 1946. Zenith brought out the Consoltone series of radio following the close of WW2, offering smaller radios with big "console" sound. This one is housed in a crisply styled light walnut cabinet with contrasting dark sides and trim. It features "single knob" controls at bottom. Actually, it's an inner and an outer knob, controlling on-off, volume and tuning, a fairly novel idea at that time. Fluted sides. Backplate is good. The set is another of the radios purchased from an estate this past summer, restored and including restoration folio and white storage box. Measures 13" x 8" x 5 1/2".
