This BEAR fetish was carved by Native American EMERY ERIACHO from PHOSPHOSIDERITE . I purchased this carving from Emery on my April visit to the Zuni Reservation in New Mexico. The Zuni tribe are the most renowned Native American fetish carvers. The artist has enhanced the fetish with an apple coral arrowhead, branch coral, a turquoise nugget and heishi. Emery has also inlaid turquoise for the eyes. The bear is associated by Native Americans with great strength, healing and the power of introspection . It is the protective animal of the West in Zuni Mythology. This fetish measures 1 7/16" long, 7/16" wide and 1" high. The cost for shipping and handling is $4.75.
