For your consideration is a lot of 11 LARGE (10 x 8-inch) official U.S. Navy/Air Technical Service Command photographs of US aircraft carriers & destrores in action during World War II. These are original photographs, not later reproductions, which were developed during the War and released to Washington D.C. newspaper, the Washington Evening Star, for homefront propaganda purposes. The guy I bought these from worked at the newspaper and saved these from the trash when the paper decided to clean house some years after the war. According to him, the newspaper, as well as other local news organisations, received a much wider variety of press photos than other news organisations around the country due to their close proximity to the Department of War/War Information in Washington D.C. Hence, many of these may be quite rare. They are in spectacular condition for their age and were taken well care of over the intervening decades. All have wet stamped descriptions on the back which describe the scenes on the front.Shipping $5 in US, $10 Europe/India/Far East. Please see my other auctions for some spectacular & rare World War II photos up this week.
